Lately Pop Art parties are in style, Barney's New York and the  Roy Lichtenstein Foundation along with the Art Production fund  got together and made up  a line of  Lichtenstein home accessories. But accessories was not all that was seen there. We could see  all the celebrities had fun using original pieces and  cartoon like dresses .   We could see in Vogue’s digital edition that Narciso Rodriguez, teen Vogue’s Amy Ashley and   Kimberly Chandler were all there to say yes to Pop Art . Another Party that caused sensation was  Giancarlo's Gametti’s Bay  last February also inspired in pop art . We could also see pop art in this fall's 2013 Street Chic style .  This unique pieces inspired us , so we decided to look for a dress that could stand out as well for one lucky client. As well as pop art influences this month we could not leave behind the famous crop top for summer  or the beautiful sweater influences as we talked about in last month’s issue . These are the first pieces to be posted by us but we are working hard to bring you original, inspirational clothing  for this year’s summer trends that  will for sure make our clients stand out .

In this Spring 2013 , everyone is ready to show some skin and  without no doubt who wouldn't. All Over New York, London, Milan , and Paris  you could see  the influences of(1960's)  Eddie Sedgwick inspired by Marc Jacobs to  Dries Van Noten and Phillip Lim’s ode to 1990s grunge.

The thruth is you could see inspiration from different parts of the world in each runway .  Prada, Haider Ackermann and Etro were inspired in Japan with their al Asian look .  You could also see US west Coast influence . ( Beach prints  were held highly by Victoria Beckham), the travelling music festival  which tons of my friends assisted (Coachella 2013  was seen by styles brought to you by Tory Burch and Isabel Marant.)

They travelled around the body too, revealing new  zones for the fashion hungry to zoom in on: midriffs (crop tops at JW Anderson and Michael Kors!), shoulders (strapless at Chanel and Gucci!), legs (short shorts everywhere!)—they’re all hot this season.  So check out this summer inspired trends and  see what crop tops  we chose as our favorites   to sell .

Clothes tell a story, it tells  the world  who you are , (more or less )  at least what you want.

Beloved pieces  get passed down from generation to generation  or in this case from thrift-store to thrift-store finding  their one true  collector. Carrying their history with them and  making  new ones . In this new post  we are featuring some  pieces  we loved and picked out for our  lovely costumers . Check out  our new  style guide for this summer as well as some pieces we could not help from picking out that were featured in this years fall collection and we absolutely loved.

Our first piece is inspired in the

Candela Fall 2013: Rock & Roll-mance

This collection featured    lust worthy individual pieces and we loved the pastels incorporated  into the runway . As well as the cozy-vintage inspired sweaters and shoes. Although we are in summer every girl should own a lace- knitwear sweater for those cold days while going out    or when feeling awfully romantic and cozy.

What is vintage ? What defines it ?

The word vintage, as applied to clothing, can apply to anything between approximately 100 and 20 years old, depending on who you ask. So currently that’s approximately 1910 to the late 80’s.

How  do we define vintage in The Backyard Closet ?

We define it as flirtation with fashion ,  wearing whatever speaks to you and whatever style made an impact  from the 1910's to the late  80's.It's the nostalgia from preceding generations that were not afraid to speak  through fashion.

It's the work of designers like Richard Frontman , Michael Milea , Henry a la Pensee, Albertina Giubbolini , Geoffrey Beene, Tina Lesser  and  all the designers that made a difference  and tried to reshape the women figure in so  many ways.    So , We can see that in our generation  currently  the 21st Century  what's old is new again . So we  invite  you to pick  whatever defines your style, whether its picking an outfit to eat ice cream , a nice dress  to  go out with your gals or even a nice ensemble just to feel  that  you are beautiful each day .
